Urrrrgh. So OVER being sick. It's that annoying level of sick, you know, when you're not really sick enough to justify lying down all day, and certainly not sick enough to take the day off work, but sick enough to make you wish you could. I feel like I'm operating at about 60% normal. I just wish I knew for certain what I was intolerant to! It seems to come on randomly without any correlations to what I've eaten in the hours previous.
My naturopath thinks gluten and dairy, but she doesn't seem to have any reason for that other than a professional hunch. This is annoying. If I'm going to exclude gluten from my diet in the long-term I need concrete evidence, because it's quite an involved thing to do. I think my boyfriend is getting frustrated with the fact that every shopping trip takes twice as long as it should, because I have to read the back of every pack before putting it in the trolley.
I'm going to need to find a dietician and do some exclusion diets, or something, to get this thing pinned down...
Anyway, in the mean time, I've created two diet-friendly culinary experiments: gluten-free bread, and almond milk. The bread was a flop - literally - it sunk in the middle, I suppose I made the dough too wet. Also it's way too crumbly to be sliced, so alas, I cannot have toastie soldiers. It tastes good though, so I'm treating it more like a pull-apart loaf to be eaten in chunks. Nom.
The almond milk was a success though, it is lurrrvely
And it looks so old-school pretty in my glass milk jug. I had plans to make cookies with the leftover almond "curds", but I don't think I have the energy to tackle cookies just now. Soon, I will make cookies.
I have another tattoo appointment booked Monday! Eek, actually that's tomorrow. My artist delicately suggested to me at the last session that I might consider Emla cream, haha. He assures me that I was doing very well considering where the tattoo was, but I still might want a bit of relief for the next session. I suppose I probably should heed his advice, but I'll feel a lot less tough.
