Just realized that tomorrow would've been my best friend's 40th birthday. He was killed in a car wreck 9 years ago.He was my best friend since 3rd grade, the best man at my wedding and the one person who accepted me for who I was for the better part of my life, until I met my wife.We could always make one another laugh, no matter what.
He died on a Wednesday, we buried him on Saturday and my daughter (first child )was born early Monday morning.WHAT A SURREAL FLOOD OF EMOTIONS ! I think about him often, and miss him dearly. He lived fast and for the hell of it, he was careless, but not really reckless.Thinking back to high school, somehow I always new, even back then that he wasn't going to be around long, so I soaked up as much of him as I could, and enjoyed every minute of being his friend.
The thing I kills me the most is that he wasn't around to meet my kids. I imagine they would've really loved each other. We always talked about raising families together and he was great w/ kids.
Happy Birthday Mark
