Sad to see these big logs on the ground. Some of the white oak tree's are 500 to over 900yrs old. When the loggers are finished I will still have a beautiful forest. I'm doing select timber harvesting and I tagged every tree I want cut down with orange spray paint. I'm actually helping my forest by taking out these big trees. I have a forest full of smaller tree's. That will benefit from this with full sunlight. It's a good time to harvest white oak trees. With the highest market value ever in the state of Kentucky. Because all the bourbon Distilleries in KY. Use white oak barrels to age there bourbon. The Bourbon Distilleries in KY have been so successful with making the best bourbon in the world. And to continue being successful they have to have white oak barrels. Also walnut tree's have until recently have been the #1 tree to harvest. The market value is always good in KY for walnut trees. So I'm also doing select harvesting on the big walnut trees on my farm. And I have a walnut and white oak tree project growing on my farm. My daughter's Little Weed and Little Red will be harvesting in the future. The loggers had 10 thousand dollars cut down the first day.
