Well, I got a decent break from the senior non-commissioned officer in charge of my additional duty punishment: Because my office often has to stay late for flying missions or bad weather, each time I get tasked to remain beyond the usual 8 hours will count as one day of my community service, out of my 45 that I owe.

I'm doing 2-3 days this week for planes, and (I shit you not, SG friends) Volcano Operations. Asama-yama, a volcano about 56 miles away from me, is puffing smoke like a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. We have to keep an eye on it in case ash clouds drift over our base; this affects airplanes flying as well as posing a health risk to people.

I love how I've been tied to living near volcanoes and they seem to affect my life frequently ever since I got the kanji for "Volcano" and "Life/Vitality" tattooed on my right arm here in Harajuku almost 4 years ago. Between living within sight of Mt. Fuji, Mt. Rainier, and now getting a hand-up (not a hand-out!) from Mt. Asama, I certainly have a life full of volcano-induced excitement.

Pretty fitting for an Aries! Gotta love my Fire Sign. ^_^
