I think lightning just went off maybe 150 metres or less from me.
There was a bright flash through my curtain then only maybe half a second or less layer the thunder sounded. Until then there had been no lightning or thunder.
The time difference between the lightning and the thunder after it tells you how far away it is. Sound travels about 1km every three seconds in the air whereas light is almost instantaneous. So count those seconds between the two!
In the case of this one, it must have been under 150 metres away. Unless I'm wrong somehow. For example if I missed another lightning flash a few seconds earlier. Don't think I did though, plus it was very loud.
So yeah, quite cool possibly to be right in the centre of a thunderclap.
