I shared this poem of mine with one member recently. Let's share it with anyone now. I guess it's Charles Bukowski mixed with an emphasis more on fantasy than grit:
BIRD ENERGY
by Mike F
If a bird hung
From the telegraph wire
It would use less energy
Than if standing
Yet it does not,
Preferring the whole
Trapeeze standing
Shebang
Scientists invested millions
And personal time
Too
Just learning to talk
To birds
And got to understand
"...seed twigs grasshoppers eggs..."
And other shit besides
And the personal time passed
And grated
Scientists feeling
The crunch
"The results remain inconclusive"
became
"Will we ever present to the board?"
became
"I looked in the mirror this morning
and I saw a scab"
and
"Das rug - es ist pulled, Gunter!"
All over.
More wasted energy.
Now I hear that the
Scientists went up on the wire
Joined the birds
Making time
Back in human spaces
Others are talking about the birds
And will join them
Soon.
