I love Alaska and would not want to live anywhere else in the world. It does however, have its downsides. We live for our summers. The sun never goes down, you can party all night, and it is warm all the time. Few places in the world can get 60 below zero in the winter but 90 above in the summer. The downside to summer? Everything gets very dry and we get wildland fires.
This was a smoke header on the horizon on one of our nice days. this fire just blew up in a matter of about an hour.
And here is the result of said fire. the next day the smoke was so thick for hundreds of miles in all directions that we had about three quarters of a mile of visibility. For me, this means instant sinus infection...every time. Guess its a good thing I chose municipal firefighting and did not try wildland.
If none of this is interesting to you, then to hell with you and check out this picture of @maggie_fracture. She is uber hot.
