So it's spring break, and it's fabulous. I really needed some good ol' lying around time (which I've been doing lots of while I watch Heroes online ) though I keep fairly active in the evening times.
Friday: Take Back the Night, a protest march to end violence against women. Twas a very powerful experience, for one to be a part of a protest march at all (with cheers : hey hey, ho ho, patriarchy's got to go), but afterwards it was a time for open mic and to hear what some women have been through absolutely breaks my heart. A kind of celebrity, Molly Starlight, shared her story. Feminism is such a wide spectrum, and I'm not sure where I fall, but violence against women is something more personal. Last June my little sister was stupidly drunk at a party and trusted one of her guy friends to walk her home, and this ....friend of hers pushed her down under a tree and attempted to rape her - luckily it's a small town and someone called the police. Even on Friday night, afterwards, I went to Blues on Whyte to see Funkafeelya (GREAT!!) and some creepers yelled at me as I wait for the bus (it happens), but then circled around and actually approached me - they may not have meant any harm - but I should feel safe on a well-lit, busy street at 11:30 , the bus came so who knows...
Saturday: UAMC concert - fantastic. For the cheer song when all past chorus members join us on stage, there were sooo many people. Afterwards, drunken times at BP's, twas good.
Sunday: Got drunk with my parents on the driveway and had cake - nom nom nom. Also, ONE YEAR!!! WAHOOO!!!
Monday: Went to pub with friends and new boy, met a cool chick who plays roller derby and I AM SO PUMPED TO JOIN
Tuesday: Erotic Art Affair at Prism - local lesbians display their art, share poetry, prose, and music. Molly Starlight was there as well, it was nice to hear her personal story in a more humorous fashion (how far she's come) and share some erotic and funny writings.
Last night was choir and karaoke. New boy came to that too. Is he my boyfriend? I dunno, I don't even know where I am emotionally with it, I like him, he's great, but I'm not intrigued...yet....we'll see. I don't know if I like being viewed as 'with' someone without being emotionally attached. O but he's so cute and funny.

Glad to see that Take Back the Night is still going strong. I'm sorry to hear about your little sister.
