Today is the end, the very final day of the world....Or at least that' is what the Mayans believed. I am still unconvinced but I suppose the possibility is always there. We shall see what happens tonight. My money is on the fact that I will still have to wake up in the morning and go to work.
What interests me more about this whole prediction is that I keep having this feeling in the bottom of my chest that says maybe it would be better if we were forced to start over. Now before you argue, I am not trying to promote the complete apocalypse of the world ( I really enjoy my life and would like to keep living), just merely that if a catastrophic event happened it would 1. Hopefully brings us closer as a species and 2. force us to really evaluate the state of the world. It would be nice to say that humans are still evolving and continuing to become a great species but at some point you have to recognize the truth. After the internet revolution we hit a plateau and we have stopped improving. I will not argue that there have been some major contributions to the world in the last 2 years but look around and see the world as it really is. It is not so hard to find all of the faults that we have developed as a species. The amount of unnecessary death and suffering in this world that could be prevented is ridiculous. We live in world so controlled by fear that many of us would sacrifice daily liberties just for the illusion of safety. We live in a world where the murdering of children is manipulated and used to further the political agendas of many parties. We live in a world that can grow more than enough food to feed the world and yet people still starve by the hundreds and thousands every day. We live in a world that refuses to see all of these problems and address them.
Every day is the end of a world, the world that was the first part of your life. every day is also the beginning of a world, the world that is the rest of your life. Maybe today will bring about a new beginning a new world, and maybe if we are lucky this world may be better than the last and one we can all be proud to call home.
