Suffice to say life has been a wild rollercoaster, a non-stop whirlwind of excitement, a wait- that's a total lie!
As I left you last, I was off to my twin sister's wedding, where I drink too much, meet a lot of folks I hadn't seen since High school and I also put on a... Read More
Well it's been a while since I put finger to key for this blog. how have you all been my pretties?
The last couple of Saturdays, Ix had gigs (one in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow) which were shockingly similar:
At both Mr Steve (guitar/keys) was too ill to attend, so we played them as four-pieces with only two guitars, like some kind of primitives! At... Read More
Man, I missed you guys again, I'm so sorry! I ended up bogged down with uni stuff and it slipped my mind. My bad. How'd the wedding go? And more importantly, did you stay sober?
I wanted to go and see you guys play in Edinburgh the other week but I forgot to write the date down and then it passed because i have no working memory. I hope it was good though and good luck with tomorrows show, I'll be writing essays I'm afraid!
you're either in it for the love or the money, so i'm guessing it's the love as you don't get rich too quickly playing doom! if you're all enjoying it, then fuck the press, most people in the press are either failed musicians or talentless wasters with a chip on their shoulder anyway, so bollocks to them all.
i've only heard the track "Sleeper" from your myspace page, and it's doomy as sin!! does exactly what it says on the tin. people are either gonna be with you or they ain't. i'm rambling like the fool i am here just a tad, but basically stick with it as it sounds great to me.
This month's Rock Sound has a review of the Ix/Naked Shit split in it. To save you folks the post-christmas pennies, here it is in full:
IX/NAKED SHIT SPLIT EP
"The cover artwork for "Split EP" depicts a darkened room, a bright window and a single branch. Like these images, the music is ambiguous. It's doom of the slowest kind, where lyrics are absent and... Read More
Yeah, I caught that review. I've gotta say, Rock Sound has never been high in my estimations. Hell, I think Brand New or something are on the cover the now
Tired. Ah well, only four days to go until the weekend *sigh*.
Had an ok weekend visiting my mother's new house in the picturesque hellhole that is Fort William. When the weather let up, the scenery was nice, but thankfully I was spared any extensive walks. Wasn't fond of the six-hour journey there and back either.
And my Roadburn ticket arrived! Woot! Still need to... Read More
I am back from my travels down south. Even though we were plagued by all manner of mishaps on public transportation, we managed to get to see Neurosis, who were...
... Great. Sadly however, last time I saw em, they were unbe-fucking-lievable. The set list this time round was a little eccentric. A lot of stuff from Enemy of the Sun and Sovereign which I'm... Read More
i was down the road at the underworld to see Black Cobra, but it finished so early we had time to go and see Neurosis too! i'm not really familiar with their stuff so can't say if it was a good performance or not, but i know i spent a shitload of money on tickets and petrol that night, haha!!
kept my eye out for you, but maybe you were in a disguise or lurking in the shadows?
I dunno, man, I thought the show was pretty awesome, but then again I've never seen them live before, I was in the front row (which I haven't done for a large gig in a long time) and, thanks to a lack of sleep, I was in a somewhat sensitive state. I'll agree that the setlist was somewhat eclectic though, particularly Crawl Back In, which I fucking love. The new material was much heavier than I expected too. What can I say, I'm very easy to please
Ah right, I'll be arriving in the morning so I guess I might see you in the queue or summat. As for the gig, no worries, I was just curious as the other support cancelled as well. Catch ya around, man.
Well looks like I'm getting shifted departments at work, away from my bitch manageress and into a (hopefully) saner environment. Same cash though, and I have to wear a shirt and tie. Ah well, thems the breaks.
Apart from that, I've hit my normal bout of Autumn insomnia. It always seems that the clocks changing throws by biorythmns out of synch for the two two... Read More
Looks like we're not supporting Mono on the 6th anymore. Guss' work can't give him the time off required to make a Monday Night gig happen, so that's that. Kinda upset, but we've had two amazing gigs in the last fortnight, so I can't complain too much
Work sucks, my manager is an incompetant bitch and has managed to turn the department in on itself.... Read More
bum news on the gig front mate, sorry to hear that.
i miss loads of great stuff due to work as i work an alternating early and late shift throughout the year, and i can't book any days off as holiday as that's all done on a factory shut down basis! pretty much ran out of excuses too, weddings, runs to the airport etc!!!
