Yesterday, out of the blue, I kind-of got offered a job in a health food shop!
I was doing my Saturday morning shopping and I decided to treat myself to a spending spree at the local health food shop. I piled my purchases on the counter. While I was paying for my purchases the nice elderly gentleman who was serving, commented upon how I seemed to know my stuff. I replied that I kind of did once but that I'd forgotten a lot of what I used to know. The nice elderly gentleman then asked me if I had a full-time job. I explained that I did and he seemed disappointed (he also thought it was a shame that I work for a bank!!) and he started going on about his staff going on holiday and how he wouldn't normally work behind the till and about how he'd trained all of his staff and how he couldn't put just anyone behind the till in his shop and he needed people who knew their stuff. He then proceeded to tell me that he would give me a present!!
Next thing I knew he'd gone off and come back and dropped something into my shopping bag (I didn't get to see what it was as he plonked it in) and conjoined me to come back again sometime and have a chat. Once I had left the shop I had a look in my bag and discovered that the present was a tub of Omega-3 fish oil capsules which is a bit unfortunate as I don't eat fish. It was really nice of the guy to give me a free gift so I am grateful but I am not sure what to do with the capsules. If we take it as writ that actually consuming the capsules is out of the question on account of my not eating fish, then the options seem to be to a) Give the capsules to someone who does eat fish or b) go back to the shop and attempt to return the present (which I was too embarrassed to do at the time as returning a present seems like a really ungrateful thing to do).
What will probably actually happen is that the capsules will sit in the back of my cupboard for a long time because I can't make up my mind what to do and eventually they will get past the sell-by date and then I will have to throw them away.
By the way, Almond Butter is yummy. I looove Peanut Butter and I eat large quantities of it (although, these days I am not as obsessive about Peanut Butter as I was when I was a child...when I was a child, I used to get a teaspoon and eat it directly out of the jar). When I was at the health food shop yesterday, I bought a jar of Almond Butter and it was soooo good that I have almost finished the jar already. Fortunately, I also purchased a jar of Walnut Butter and I will be eating that next!
Other (non-health food shop-related) purchases this weekend included LOTR 1,2&3 DVD boxed set. Superb!!
