Here's an interesting article concerning the so-called "Cocaine Mummies"; ancient Egyptian mummies which were reported to contain traces of cocaine and nicotine. The presence of cocaine and nicotine in ancient Egyptian mummies has been interpreted by some as evidence of pre-Columbian trading contact between the 'Old World' and the 'New World'. This article examines the evidence and argues that it is not quite as conclusive as we may have been lead to believe.
