Oh dear! I seem to be coming down with a bit of a cold. I'd like to think that I don't get ill too often but all last week I was feeling knackered and now this week I have a manky throat, congestion, headache etc. It's hardly surprising as over the past few weeks, practically everyone at work and a number of family members have been ill. I started taking mega doses of Vitamin C last week in the hope of averting it but this tactic seems to have been unsuccessful (I'm gonna get that Linus Pauling and I'm a gonna make him pay). Of course, if I so much as mention to anyone that I am a bit under the weather, I will have to put up with the obligatory moronic comments about, "It's no wonder you're ill, being a vegan. You need to eat a nice juicy pork chop. That'll sort you out." (Yeah right buddy! See if you can count how many fingers I am holding up!!).
Today's film recommendation is May starring Angela Bettis (who also starred in the remake of Carrie); a film about a painfully shy young woman who has no friends except for her doll and who has never had a boyfriend. One day, when walking along to her job as a veterinary nurse, May espies a handsome auto mechanic with rugged features and nice hands and decides to try to catch his eye. Despite the fact that Mr Handsome Hands is apparently blind to May's existence and her clumsy attempts at gaining his attention, one thing eventually leads to another and everyone lives happily ever after - oh wait, scratch that last part because, somewhere on the way, things get really weird and we discover that May is a very disturbed young lady indeed and that whole happy ever after gig gets cancelled with no refund. When seeing just how shy and insecure May was, I couldn't help hoping that somehow, against all the odds, she would find happiness and as the film progressed it began to look as if even this wilting little wall flower might find true love but, alas it all went terribly, horribly wrong - and it was around about that point that the film started to get really interesting, muah ha ha!!!
If you want to see some clips from the film and don't mind having the plot spoiled for you then watch this YouTube video (a slideshow comprised of clips from May, overlaid with the sound of Automatic Flowers by Our Lady Peace - a bit of a bargain two-for-one deal if you ask me!!).
Now, I'd like to express my earnest adoration for KatieJane Garside. One time lead vocalist in the quirky indie band Daisy Chainsaw, a comic book author and an all round sex goddess, KatieJane's eccentric vocals and her energetic performances, brimming with sexual abandon and tinged with more than a suspicion of insanity, have earned her a well-deserved notoriety. These days KatieJane can be found pushing the limits of self-expression in QueenAdreena.
And now for an exquisitely sensual symphony of wantonness; QueenAdreena's cover version of Jolene
Oh
God
Yes
Oh well, that's all for now folks as it's time for some onion soup.

Good cover of one of my favorite songs. I have not heard her in a while (since, like, Daisy Chainsaw). The comic book looks interesting. Thanks for the tips.
