My dad died recently. I broke off contact with my dad long ago so I had no idea he was ill. Apparently, he has been afflicted with dementia for the past 6 years and he'd been in and out of hospital several times. On Thursday evening I got a call from my auntie to say that he was in hospital with not long to live. She'd also not been in touch with him for years so she'd only recently found out. We went to the hospital to see him on Friday but he was already dead. It turned out that he had died on Thursday morning. He was, in fact, already dead by the time my auntie called me. I'd hoped I would have a chance to make my peace with my dad but I was too late. For a while a little voice in my head has been telling me that I should get back in touch with my dad. I guess I should have paid attention to that little voice. He would have been 63 next week. I guess that this is what happens when we take time for granted. Anyway that's all I have to say for now.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. At least you can feel good knowing you did make the trip to go see him- after all those years, as opposed to never even thinking of making peace. If there is some way that he could have seen you show up where he was, I am sure his heart would have lifted .

I wanted to thank you also for the awesome comment on my set that you left.. and say that I am sorry about taking so long to reply.

Better late than never?
