I got the chance to see Cake yesterday. Happened sorta suddenly, really. one day I have no idea they're even playing anywhere, next day, I'm standing in a small club venue with Cake a handful of yards away. How cool is that. Oh, and comp tickets too. (well sortof, I didn't have to pay for them at least.) Great show. Some bands you admire for their ability to keep things consistent during every live performance, like TooL, APC, etc.. Cake, however has this amazing knack for innovation on their original theme, while still keeping true to the song. The lead singer John McCrea is a damn funny guy too. "That was a sand song, why are you cheering?! No, shut up, you don't care about me!" Good times. Anyhow, I'm off.
