Ovation GC057 Celebrity

That's what I was up to this weekend. Me standing there with my new guitar doesn't necessarily lead to standing ovations but at least there is someone standing (me) and there is some kind of Ovation (my guitar) ...
Anyway, beside making stupid jokes, I still have visitors from Berlin. And because they remind me of my past and because I haven't played guitar for such a long time (over 10 years) I just decided that it's time to learn it again from scratch. I have played guitar before in a punk band for over 10 years and one of the highlights has been: Being in the same hotel with Genesis (because we got kicked out of some hotels in Budapest for drinking all of the hotel's beer reserves). Even Punk bands had a manager in the former East (Europe) and we had to pretend to be German swordsman to be able to book into this 'Sport Hotel'. Must have looked quite funny with all the tattoos and bleached/colored hair. But they made us sign the guest book and here we go: Genesis arrived with 7 trucks (!!!) of equipment to play in the football (or should I say soccer?) stadium and we were tempted to steal some of it (we were a poor Punk band at all). Another highlight was to play in the same club as Henry Rollins did in Budapest (just a day before - or after?). At that time he was a poser (at least in my humble opinion) but now he's grown older and maybe a bit wiser and I quite like it if he talks about the past. I guess he got a good humor now.
To make the long story short: I bought a guitar and I hope to remember all those old songs. The funny thing is: If I take the guitar in my hands and do not think about it I get some songs back into my memory (at least my fingers start to do the right thing). The minute I start thinking about what I'm doing it's gone. Alzheimer? I guess not. I just have to ask some friends to send me the chords for some of the songs we were playing. But if it's Punk Rock you need three chords only anyway. And if you can't do that you just play a bit louder and faster (or was that true only in the past, Henry?). I think that's what I'm going to do now
Have fun ...
P.S.: Ah, and I found this at Amoeba: Einstrzende Neubauten (click to listen)
