Well today is racking itself as one for the books. Too bad they're going to burn them all tomorrow.
We have a reaffirmation of Pre-emption. If you rationalize it, it turns to candy. Lick it!
I once listened to the only true genius I have ever met, a man with whom I imagine you can equate the experience of speaking with Einstein, explain how he had used the LARGEST NUMBER EVER in an equation during an experiment. I'm not altogether dim yet, even though I used to be an engineer and now I'm a writer, so I sort of followed what he said, but there were moments when I thought my eyes would roll back into my skull.
We have a $9 TRILLION budget cap. Same sort of eye rolling.
Other than that though, there was a great reading last night by Hoa Nguyen and Dale Smith at the Poetry Project. Hoa was featured in an anthology I used a couple years back in a class, so I was familiar but not revving to see her. Dale however writes stuff very similar to my work: loud, fast bullets of anger and acquiescence, so he was the marquee going in.
Hoa is one of the best readers of poetry I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. She's great. She may transform you. If you have a chance to see her, I fully recommend it. Dale was great as well. He was flexing his socio-political muscle and that's always goodness.
Peace
