Intro to Forced Feelings 2/3/2003
Why do you need to be happy?
Come down.
You're grinding your teeth again
you're straining your neck.
You'll feel this soon -
your body bending
joints expanding
throat burning.
It may be all that you feel.
Come down.
You will.
Your blood
flows
frivolously
now
through twisted non-sense super-highways.
Do you really need this?
Styrofoam feelings
sugar paved bridge
chemical plant sky
plastic bag lung.
This twenty dollar bill
is a waterside.
I stand at one end
skin exposed
raw
bleeding
looking through this tunnel
sensation pool
and brief thrill
Breathe;
suck it in.
Fireworks
dance
upon nerve endings
it tingles like new love
and my heart skips a beat
or two
or three
before trying to escape me.
Thank you rib cage for being strong.
Without bars
I would spill.
And a free heart
would be disastrous.
You're forgetting to breathe again.
Quit clenching your jaw.
Try to relax -
Eventually
You will come down.
