My home state is under scrutiny and it's starting to drive me insane. Every phone call now starts with "Soooooo, you grew up in Alaska, what do you think of all the attention on Governor Palin and the state?" Everyone has their opinion based on the news they hear about Alaska which is typically biased or negative (or so it seems). I'm starting to be on the defensive. Most people have never been there or considered going there and to me sound like they're talking out of their ass. I'm frustrated.
I don't know Governor Palin, I left the state in '95 and have only been back to visit my family. My mom has attended a couple luncheons with her and they respectfully know who each other are, but are not friends by any definition of the word. She says she is a very nice lady that is not experienced enough to be running for VP. In a nutshell I would say I agree.
I hope that the end result is a positive for the state. An increase in tourism and development (do not read into that "oil"). The economy there sure could use a boost and I hope that being in the spotlight is not detrimental.
Now that i've gotten that off my chest I can get on with my day...

I mean, there's not that many people living up there, right?
