I went to one of the best shows ever on tuesday. EVER! Five awesome bands! And I think The Hawethorne is my favorite venue now. It's tiny and you can get right up to the stage and interact with the bands.
First was a local band 48 Thrills that I'd heard of but hadn't seen yet.
Second was Rick Barton's band Continentall. He was the original guitarist for Dropkick Murphys.
Then it was Flatfoot 56. They had the best set of the night! I love bagpipes and they had the best piper I've ever seen, he was nuts!
You can see we were right in front of the stage.
At one point he stood on the monitor and I was afraid to look up cuz I didn't want to know what he was wearing under his kilt!
They did a wall of death but they called it a braveheart. So I lined up across from this massive dude and when they said go I ran into him as hard as I could but I just bounced of him and went flying the other way! Then I spent a couple minutes in the circle pit, I went down, went a few more times around and I was done! I'm getting too old for the pit.
And they're a christian band! Best fucking christian music I ever heard!
Then was Devil's Brigade and they were good of course.
They did a few Rancid songs and somebody yelled out RUBBY SOHO! and Matt Freeman was like "Now you've gone too far! I've never done Ruby Soho or Olympia, WA or anything from ...And Out Come the Wolves for that matter!" Then he was like "Maybe we should just call it a night right now" and somebody yelled SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY! and he said "Ya I'm getting to that, now I forgot what I where I was at..." It was pretty funny!
Then the headliner was Street Dogs and they were great.
Mike McColgan likes to talk too much though. But he gives it %200 when he's singing.
It didn't get over untill 11:00 and I had to get up at 4:30 the next morningbut it was worth it!
