It's a Wonderful Life
Have you ever had the moment in life where you feel as if you are as happy as you may ever be in life? That time when all feels just right and nothing can spoil the mood? That time when at least for a moment, nothing matters except for the moment?
Well I have. A few times. The first time may be a bit sappy, but it is true. The first time is when I got married. I knew then and there that nothing was wrong. That everything was right and I had just made the best decision in my life.
The second was today. It happened innocently enough. I came home and found I was low on beer and Gin.My wife needed some more Vodka. So, being the great husband that I am, I said to myself, "Self, lets go get some Vodka and maybe some Mike's Hard Pomegranate for my beautiful and loving wife while she is away at the casino spending our savings away." So off I went.
I loaded my ass into the car and drove in the unusually nice weather we were having today to Discount Liquor. I could see the sign shining, no, glowing, in the sunlight ahead of me as I got closer. I turned the corner into the parking lot and low and behold I got the first parking spot! The one closest to the door!! Now you have to admit, this was a sign.
I believe God saw me on my way there and thought, "Hmmm. I see that this loyal and humble servant is planning to purchase alcohol for his wife who is at the casino gambling away their kids college money, let me make an opening for this wonderful soul to go inside this beautiful shrine to all things he holds holy and purchase the alcohol needed to survive in this day and age of Obama Nation."
So I parked and made the short walk inside and the first available shopping cart actually had all 4 wheels that worked! I didn't need to fight the cart always wanting to turn to the left or right. Or screeching or skidding along. I was blessed.
I made my way down the first aisle and the Diet Tonic Water I like was available. So I picked up two.
I continued on and found that they were having a sale on Coors Light. $11.99 for a 20 pack of bottles!! Yay me!!!
I continued on and found, in the cooler, a six pack of Mike's Hard Pomegranate. Now that almost never happens!!
I move along to the Vodka aisle and what do I find? Yep that's right! Skyy Citrus was also on sale for the big honkin' bottle!!! Yay!!!
I continue on. I find my Gilbey's Gin and find that it was not on sale, however, I didn't care. I had it in my hands. It was a great feeling.
I move along to the cash register after spending a little while just looking at all the wonderful liquor that God has provided for me to choose from. And what happens? Well the girl at the register to my left looked at me and said, "I was gonna close my line down. But I can sneak you in first."
Ha!!!!! How freakin lucky was that?!?!?
After paying for my purchase, I made my way back to my car. I placed the packages in the trunk and got in to drive away. Wouldn't you know, as soon as I came to the traffic light it turned green!! No one in front of me. I made it home with only one stop at a stop sign. All lights turned to green as I approached.
And when I got home, my son came out and helped carry in the beer!!!
So as you can see, I am truly blessed. All things came together to make this one of those rare perfect moments. One of those happenings that you will remember with a smile for years to come. I feel fortunate to have had these and many more in my life. I hope you have yours to.
Have a day.
