given the history, I find it entirely appropriate that I am putting on body armor and a helmet and grabbing my loaded rifle....to go visit the dentist:
"home" again. made the convoy trip up to Camp Stone near Herat City...got to hang out for a couple of days...ate some unhealthily delicious food...went to a coffee shop at 10pm...slept in late...and went to get a tooth fixed. dentist's office was probably the scariest part of the whole deal, but they fixed me up. It's never a good sign when the dentist's office is separate from Medical...in the same building as the combat stress advisor..I guess so afterward you can just go down the hall and cry for a while. Also- the dentist "office" (closet) is the same room as for the on-base Veterinarian. Heard at least once: Navy LT "Cpl...are you sure these are the one's for people teeth and not doggy teeth?" CPL- "Sir, I think it should work ok." my reaction:
!!! but they did replace the broken filling though my bite's a bit off balance now.
Then got to be a vehicle commander for the convoy back.
