Was a fun, hectic weekend out in the field doing counter-IED training. Wore me out running around in my new MTV flak vest (Modular Tactical Vest) with armor plates after almost a year of no military action. Lots of hiking up and down hills and running about. Good training. So much training trying to get accomplished in such a small amount of time, all kinds of undeconflicted logistic concerns and scheduling SNAFUs.....the usual administrative bullshit that goes with military service. Hell, I stll haven't been paid since I got back on military duty over a month ago... but a squad bay full of laughing, shouting, BSing, and generally misbehaving Marines having a good time is worth it.
We have the the fuckin' luxery "hooch" right now too. Not because our 30 man squad bay with no privacy and hardly any storage for personal effects is cleaner or better equipped than the others, but because we, of our own initiative, "acquired" for ourselves, wireless internet, digital cable, and a 42" Vizio flatscreen tv.
hence my ability to update my journal while sitting on a camp stool by my green wool blanket covered bunk-bed "rack".
I've got a good group of guys and we have fun working our asses off. Can't really ask for much more than that.
