Been so busy getting ready to go. Went from being gone from my unit for almost to a year to back into a mother hen position and I'm chasing around after a bunch of little chickens squawking and running in circles. It's not all bad.
The biggest pain in the ass is just getting the administrative crap done...paperwork...more paperwork...and getting my stuff squared away...remembering who all to call to get my bills and such taken care of, getting my room at my friends house at least in some semblance of order so they can get some use out of it while I'm gone. The best part has been making sure that I get around to seeing all of my friends (not THAT difficult as I keep a pretty small circle) and spending time with them. Got a bunch of them all out at the same time for dinner at a hidden gem of a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant....which is a pretty rare thing. A night of great conversation and catching up and getting a couple different groups of friends together. and good food is always a bonus. Next week looks like it'll be somewhat crazy with more running around and more time with friends and family.
Looking forward to actually getting to work. Not that I want to leave anything I have behind, but all this preparation and more preparation is grating.

It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and brings back a lot of bad memories of the years of fighting the city when I ran my shop here, trying to do right by customers and comply with truckloads of city red tape.
