ok. I'm back. lost my way for a bit there. well not so much lost my way as my sailing ship caught fire and suck to the depths leaving me to flounder about the sea in a dinghy.
First my computer caught fire.
yup. the motherboard that had been put in just a few months back shorted across a bridge or something or other and it started a little electrical fire and crisped the board. the other components may still be ok, but I've yet to test them all. eventually I'll buy a new board and processor and frankenbuild me a new computer. For now I've acquired a newer Dell laptop. Nothing crazy fancy. this aint no mac air. but it processes well and if I can find a way to make it talk to my monitor...I'll be at least as well off as I was with the big hulking tower and now more portable. luckily I'll be able to pay off the machine over time...but even then....not a good time for major purchases....which was compounded by....
all of my tools getting stolen. I left for my Reserves drill monthly shin dig Thursday afternoon. That night someone busted out the side window on my work van and made off with a bunch of company equipment as well as about $600 worth of my own tools and equipment. I've already shelled out about $400 to replace the absolutely necessary pieces....again...not so great.
Drill weekend was good though. mostly. Battalion exercise but my unit (I always seem to end up in the step child units) was left to its own all weekend and we managed to get a lot done. Ended the weekend with a memorial service for a Marine in my unit. He wasn't one of mine, but I knew who he was and had worked with him and some of the guys I take care of were in Iraq with him. I got the computer and tools replaced. Mike Caruso aint coming back.
lots of other things. trying to figure school out. need to go back and get it done and maybe this new GI Bill will make it possible. maybe.

Haha, cosmic coincidence, I guess. I had a pretty crazy day today. Nothing bad, just... unprecedented. I'll zap you a PM with the details--it's nothing that I mind sharing, necessarily, but I don't want it to be a matter of public record either (work related, if you know what I mean).
