this is getting ridiculous. the rain I mean. I think we've had almost the full year's worth of rain and it's only mid June. it's pouring again...off and on. had one of those moments of just torrential downpour while standing in blazing sunlight.

spent yesterday negotiating with bureaucracy. Went in the morning to get a new military ID card made. I had gotten a new one right before i went to Iraq, but lost it several weeks ago. Luckily, I still had my copy of my old green one. The old ones were just green laminated id cards. the new ones are specially printed and carry a microchip IN the card that carries ALL of your data. it has my fingerprints, my entire service history, and the major medical points (blood type, allergies, etc. ) encoded on it. pretty keen and slightly terrifying all at the same time. anyway, it's a good thing I had the old green one, so I didn't have to admit that the other one was lost. The one I lost had the wrong rank on it anyway.

anyhow they were going to not be able to make me one because, technically, my entire obligation of military service ends in Sept of next year. but since I am still drilling and a computer glitch showed my ID to be good through Feb 2009 (the date I went to boot camp). I needed one for going to Reserves Annual Training at Quantico, VA this year.

then I head over to the DMV/ County Tax office. I had called about getting replacement liscence plates (mine were stolen two years ago and I guess I'm finally getting around to gettng it taken care of.) I was told that I should wait until I renewed my registration and THEN get the replacements. After driving all the way over to their office in the rain, I was told that I couldn't get new plates BECAUSE I'd renewed my registration. and will now have to wait until I recieve the new registration stickers. none of it makes any sense. oh well.

got out of work early today and went to visit the Katy at her new job at the used/new bookstore. me+ bookstore= the wooshing sound of my emptying checking account. bought three books.

and

this was silly of me given that I already have half a dozen books sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.
dangermagnet:
nothin' wrong with buying books, I'm addicted to the Half-Price Book Store... biggrin
