It's been a pleasant Christmas weekend. I went down to San Antonio to see my father's side of the family on Saturday. They were very particular about when this had to happen. Saturday because my younger brother had to work on Christmas Eve, the day we normaly gather. And it had to be prior to 5pm because that was when my youngest brother had to be at work on Saturday. Then my youngest brother, the one who seems to be the best of all of us, helped derail all the time constraints and concerns...by getting himself into a car accident. It had been raining and cold all day. not a driving rain...just that mess that muddles between showers and a miserable drizzle...just enough to keep everything soaked. anyway. he slid off the road in his Sunfire and took out a telephone pole going sideways. resulted in a trip to the hospital and some CT scans to make sure that the gash in his head didn't go all the way through the bone. it didn't aside from a head bandage that made him look rather gangsta, a headache for which he recieved some impressive happy no pain pills, and the promise of a wicked cool scar....everything seems to be as normal. So we all eventually met up and exchanged gifts. as I said before I enjoy getting gifts for people. I mostly concentrated on my cousins so young that I just tell people that they're my neices since it makes it easier. anyway...the family gathering went well. my stepmonster declined to participate and noone seemed at all put out by it. though I feel bad for my youngest (half)brother. that is his mother after all.
anyhow. I spent Christmas Eve running around meeting up with friends that I rarely ever see, including a meeting at an Indian buffet with my best friend from middle school and the girl that I took to my senior prom. that was strange.
anyway. Christmas today...spent at the apartment with Katy. a well spent morning of opening a few gifts and pancakes.
there are a lot of movies out that I'd like to see, but it turns out that a near perfect date movie for Christmas night is Stranger Than Fiction.
I don't like anything else that Wil Ferrell has done, but this movie is really good. Dustin and Emma are great... and of course Maggie Gyllenhal...well. nuff said.
so as this last bit of the evening winds down and I go off to get ready to go back to work in the morning I'll take a last oppurtunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and to all a good night.
