I guess I haven't updated in a couple of weeks. Hasn't really been much going on or much to say of late. I'm just doing the holidays thing. Work has been slow with a few extra days off. Spent too much on Christmas gifts, but I always do. I get the people who don't like the holidays because of the commercialism and the external impetus to give material items to friends and family and especially strangers who just happen to share an employer. I've always liked it though. Picking out a good gift for someone is somewhat fun. I really only put much effort into gifting close friends and people I care about. most others get gift cards or tokens.
anyway. and now that I can do a LOT of my shopping online, it takes away the biggest headache of the whole ordeal. and I tend to be materially generous by nature, I suppose to counteract my emotional reticence.
so a happy wintery festival or whatnot.

i don't understand that sentence, though. do i need pb to come translate it?
did you see how he wants me to drive 90 minutes to bring him food since he can't bring himself to leave the house with that ridiculous projector setup?
I would have never noticed the horse was pissing, had she not said anything... Kudos.
State dept. eh? Gonna go turncoat and white-collar on us? Meh... Everyone's doing it. I've got my fingers in so many pies, you'll be able to trail me north of the Mason Dixon line with a blind fat dude the minute my enlistment is up. I don't think I can make e-7 in my current billet and by the time I transfer, there'll be 2 deployments worth of other frogs in front of me in line for the position you need to advance... What's that? 6 years before I even get to step up to the plate - and that's not assuring that all goes well during the next 2 years when I'm in charge and I get good reviews, AND pass the exam, AGAIN... It's too much, dude. If I don't pick it up this time, I'm bailin'- and I'm pretty sure I won't, unless some big changes are made. We've painted ourselves into the same corner the Greeney Beanies did: too many chiefs; not enough indians. But, it was unavoidable really. Competing against the regs - we look like gods and make rate super-fast. So, now that we're all competing against one another and the reg fleet "shoes" are out of the mix, there's a bottleneck at e-6, whereas the army has theirs at e-7... Whatever. I'm not planning to stick around while they un-fuck the mess they've gotten themsleves into. If anything more promising comes along, I'm in there like swimwear.
Merry Christmas, Brutha. Give my best to the misses. Cheers, you two!
= Go Navy!
