not much going on here. been on a bit of a culinar kick lately.
tonight's dinner-
salad: baby greens and lettuce and spinach with diced tomato, red onion, and red peppers. main course: baked chicken marinated overnight in mesquite sauce and spices (parsley, oregano, chili powder, garlic salt) and covered with cheese and sliced red onion. side item: baked potato with butter and cheese and onion.
work's been keeping me fairly busy, but not as busy as it should be at the height of the summer. hopefully things pick up so that I can save for the winter when it's really slow.
been testing out some roads west of Austin and found some really good riding around Wimberley, TX. a lot of farm and county roads in good repair with little traffic and lots of curves. just like I like my women! har har....not really. that might just be the worst spontaneous joke in the history of ad lib.
watched A History of Violence last night, finally. I liked it; not as much as I thought I would, but I liked it. As always I was impressed with Viggo Mortensen and Maria Bello's acting. The authenticity of the violence was pretty high and...while "entertaining" mightn't be the right word... it was interesting to see. The story was a bit enh. The sideplot involving the son and the bully seemed tacked on. unless it was supposed to be some sort of statement on the hereditary disposition towards rage? and the part towards the end with the brother really did nothing for the movie. I suppose it was his final severing of ties with his past...not that it would have actually done that...thinking about it, it probably would have made it worse.
the very final scene was excellently done.
so high marks for the direction and acting... just wish the writing had been more... focused.
going to watch Spider tonight. another good actor (Ralph Fiennes) and again directed by Cronenberg. Should be good.
in other news: Katy comes down a week from today. on a one way ticket.
DANGER! Relationship reaching critical mass! Cohabitation imminent!!
it occurs to me that I've never tried this particular adventure before. should prove to be interesting. I guess I better get the place cleaned up.
