now that my desktop is fixed...again, I am back on the interweb with some more frequency than I once was. actually I've been back for a while now as I had gotten fed up with my lack of connectivity...alone in my apartment...? and went a sprang for the wireless setup so that my laptop could reach out and touch the billions upon billions of naughty pages and email servers upon this very littered information superhighway. so I'm back...in a sense. I am working long hours, averaging about 60 hours a week over the last few weeks, so I'm not back as often. I'd update with something momentous but there isn't any of that going on. I leave in a month or so and will be gone doing military type things with the Marine Corps off the coast of Venezuela. sounds interesting, eh? it isn't, or at least not as interesting as it sounds. though, please, go tell Hugo Chavez that we are coming. it'll give him something to talk about on the telly. actually we're going to be doing a joint exercise with the Dutch Royal Marines...because really...if you are going to be doing JOINT exercises...with whom better than the Dutch? it's an exercise that's going to be going on throughout the Anitillies. the French Antillies are also involved. We were not invited. which is fine. Aruba is lovely...well...pretty much any time of year that a force 5 hurricane isn't bearing down upon it with murderous intent in its calm steely eye.
so most things are going well if absolutely banally. the bike is running wonderfully, the computer is fixed. so my toys are in working order.
Katy is coming down to visit soon and I'm very happy about that. I haven't seen her in nearly half a year. that's far too long and it makes things far too difficult.
Lately movies that i've seen.
Silent Hill. a thinking persons horror film that was definitely geared towards the fans of the games. I'm familiar with them, but have yet to play any of them all the way thru...so there were parts that I was fuzzy on and I think that they could have done a better job tying it together rather than just giving a big plot towards the end. I thought the creatures were done very well. very creepy. some parts I kinda was like, huh? like the cultists seemed a bit over the top, but it made more sense towards the end. I really enjoyed the movie and it was nice to actually have a story behind it other than the usual wrong turn in the back woods chainsaw wielding ax murderer who wears human flesh as a fashion statement and is intent upon slicing up college co eds.
V for Vendetta. saw it twice in the theater now. Very well done. I'm extremely impressed with Hugo and Natalie and Stephen Rea...and pretty much the whole cast. a well made delicious movie to watch. lots of fun..and still extremely topical.
saw 3 Iron on DVD and really enjoyed it. looking forward to watching 2046 sometime in the next couple days.
not reading much of anything at the moment. bad me. I have Rushdies Step Across this Line open by my bed but I'm in here not in there.
and that's not likely to change. less than thirty minutes after my computer was fixed I was back from the store with Morrowind: Oblivion and it's sitting here in front of me.
there goes my life.
