Hi Hi hi hi hi hi SO sorry I've been away. Oh holy jeebus what a time I've been having of it. Maybe everyone should stay away from me and my bad luck vibes. GAH!
The worst, though, was two days ago. I made a last minute change in a left hand turn lane in downtown Toronto, was sitting at this red light, sort of half in the lane, the light turned green, and the big fucking Mack cement truck behind me, that had quietly rolled closer and closer to me, smashed right in to my driver's side window and began pushing my car down the street. It took several peope waving and yelling at the jerk to get him to stop.
I was covered in glass, in complete shock, shaking all over. Then the jackass cop arrived, who later ended up deeming it MY FAULT (he said the trcuk driver and another eye witness claimed I cut the truck off.... argh!!! it makes me mad) and wrote me a fucking ticket. Then the jackass tow truck driver, who randomly hitched my car to his tow truck without asking me, then proceeded to shove his business card in my face, trying to convince me to have my car taken to HIS impound lot and HIS autobody shop, had the gall to tell me he'd have to charge me to drop the car, when i informed him I wanted to call CAA. He ended up charging me $160 to tow my car to my mechanic's shop... ("I don't make the fees, it's the city's fee" ... yeah whatever buddy).
So, the moral of this story is, the Criminal and Traffic acts in this country, and our fellow country to the south, are geared entirely in favour of the criminals and reckless drivers. Victims get nothing but trouble and grief. Not only did that fucking jerk drive in to my car, because he wasn't paying attention, but I am now stuck with a $110 dollar traffic offense ticket, a $160 tow bill, and it's going to cost $300 just to replace the window in my car.
There is one thing that happened in this whole fiasco that makes me feel slightly better. I had called the Better Half earlier to let him know what had happened. He told my mom, who called me frantically. When I explained to her what had happened, she told my step dad, who is a Judge, by the way, who demanded to speak to the jackass cop. Apparently the cop, when he found out who my step-dad was, immediately apologized and told him he felt bad, and was miraculously very nice to me after the phone conversation. He actually looked quite cowed. It was beautiful.
I am fighting this ticket, with His Honour as my representation. I wonder if the dumb cop will even show up.
Next day update: I am going up north to Algonquin for a well needed vacation. 5 days of booze, bathingsuits, BBQs and boyz. Booya. Back on Friday.
Lata Gatas!
