It's been a crazy summer for me. I now can finally take a step back and catch my breath. I know I haven't updated in a while. It's been crazy at work for me. As some may know at work I'm the site manager there. So when someone doesn't show up for work, I have to fill in. With that said here it goes:
It all started on July 16th. I woke up on a Saturday morning feeling good . I checked to see who's at work and how many trucks they have to work. Like I always do on my days off because I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to work lol. I check the reports first okay there's nothing entered in. I'm thinking OK maybe my first team lead just didn't to the reports, so then I check the time clock. No one is clocked in. Great so I head into work, get the reports done and head down to the production floor and start sorting pallets. As I'm working I'm getting more and more pissed off since they didn't even bother to call me, text me or anything to know that they weren't coming in. I knew the team lead was going to pull shit like this since he put in his 2 weeks because he think I cheated him out of overtime. It was himself that fucked his OT up. So I come to the decision to fire both of them. Little did I know that another shit storm was waiting for me when I got off of work. After working 10 - 5 that I finally drag ass home and take my phone out of airplane mode. It shows that I have a voicemail. It's my other team lead's sister saying that i need to call her. I call her and find out the he broke his leg awhile on vacation and is having surgery to put a steel rod in his leg. Great so now I'm down 3 people out of a crew of 5. I get an ad up in the newspapers and such I hire 3 new people (2 team leaders and a sorter). One by one they quit. Then I hire 3 more new people and 2 quit. At this point I'm working 6 to 7 days a week. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't on salary. That where it hurts the most >_<. At least one of the people stay and I hire 2 more people. Everything was going good for a while. Then was one of my team leads come to me and says that his back hurts and needs to go home. I send him home thinking everything should be fine tomorrow. He meets me in the parking lot and tells me that he can't handle the cold, that his back hurts and he doesn't want to "damage it farther". I've been doing this job for 10 years and my back has hurt everyday. So I took the ibuprofen and got on with all my life. I forgot that not everyone is as tough or has the conditioning that I have. So that puts me back to working 6 days a week. So i promote the other guy that was on the same shift as he was. I was looking for somebody and I hire one of this aquatints. So he starts work and everything is going OK. Then there a big to do about a 401 K. Thought that the hourly's would had it. But I checked with my boss and he said they are working on it. The other team leader keep harping on it. Then he bitching about with that if he didn't get his hours and had to use PTO it wasn't fair. I told him that if he wanted to come in and make his hours up on one of this days off that he could. So eventfully between that and other issues he had. He quit via text message. That's the cowards way out. So i just took over that shift and was working Sunday thru Wednesday & Friday with Thursday and Saturday off. I finally get word that the broken leg has been released back to work. I've having major issues with that guy's aquatints, so i put up an ad in the newspapers again and on the internet. I do one interview and hire the guy on the spot. And I wait until Tuesday morning to let the other guy go. He was trying to back peddle and say that he won't be late anymore. I told him that that was a little too late. So everything has started going to smoothly now that i have the right people put into place. So for now I will get 2 days off together.
A couple of days ago the guy that quit via text had texted me again asking for his job back lol. I was think that's never going to happen. I was just going to leaving him twisting in the wind but then he send me a text about texting my boss about it. I quickly told him that I was fully staffed at the moment.
