One day i went into the city for a job interview. This was at this big building near 17th and Market, near the Starbucks. Anyway, i come outside with this folder full of papers and cross the street. A homeless man came up to me and asked me for a cigarrette. I had like half a pack left and a full one in my pocket, so i just gave him the open pack and lit his cig for him. So throughout the course of the conversation, I realize that the man is completely insane. He tells me of his life before, as a husband and a father and a business man. Then he comments on my hair and says I look like a beatle. It's funny how people keep saying that. So i set my folder down just for a second so i can put it in my carrier bag and a strong wind blows. The papers go everywhere, including on market street. Quick as a cat, the man ran after my papers. This was a nice gesture but then he ran in front of oncoming traffic to grab one last paper as i stood there stunned. He hands me my papers, says thanks for the cigs and turns away. All of the sudden he turns around and looks me straight in the eyes and says, "If you make something beautiful, give it away and make something else." I never saw him again but I'll never forget what he said. It was one of those moments, ya know?
