oh you've no idea how hard this is to answer. I've even been trying to think about it for a week, with no luck lol.
let's see if I can do my best.
Pride to me means feeling comfortable in your true self, and knowing nothing is wrong with you and you're not broken. Pride means facing the world's hatred of all things different right in the face, and telling it fuck you, I see that you hate me, and I'm proud of what you hate me for. I will not let your hate make me hate myself.
Pride means celebrating the fact that despite the world trying to kill, erase, and snuff out us all, we are still here. we have always been here. and we're not fucking going anywhere.
and lastly, Pride means understanding that other people feel this way, even if you yourself do not, even if other people celebrate differently than you or identify differently from you, and knowing that you do not have the right to take it away from them. Pride is a celebration of what makes us different from what the world wants us to be, and that despite everything, we are still here. we are still alive. and we choose to thrive as who we are.
and if you still feel annoyed by that? if you still wish we would just go away, would stay quiet, would quit "rubbing it in your face," would let you stay blind to our problems, our murders, and our mere existence?
well.
the first pride was a riot, y'all. never forget your history. <brick emoji>
and I suppose now's as good a time as any to officially let the SG community know I'm pan. 😘😘❤️💛💙
