A silverback gorilla in Cincinnati was shot and killed for protecting a child that wasn't supervised properly by his mother. In a video showing said gorilla keeping the child close, not at all threatening him, the mother is heard yelling "Mommy's here for you, baby, don't worry."
Funny, where was she when the kid was climbing through the lower gate opening into the sanctuary.
I blame, first most, the mom for simply being a horrible mom. Secondly, the zoo didn't need to kill the gorilla, as it has a natural inclination to protect, as it was doing in the video I saw.
*sigh* I really do hate humans, sometimes. We suck at evolving properly.
