DO I HAVE ANY PETS? 5 dogs, a hamster, a budgie, a goldfish and two freshwater tropical fishtanks ... do you think I have pets? Sorry Bird ... I didn't mean to sound sarcastic
Yes, sweetie - I have many pets. Let me tell you all the story ... Kathearsis and I were just married and moved into a flat in Pretoria (Sunnyside). When we moved into this flat we had to find new homes for our two cats "Bijou" and "Baby Cat". I remember how I cried after their adopted mother came to fetch them. One lazy Sunday afternoon we walked around at the local flea market and there, in a little cage sat a cute little creature with a flat face, big brown eyes and a red bow around the neck. I walked closer and smelled the puppy breath ... I was in
! A Pekingese! I gave one look at my man and told him that if I pick this little one up and its a girl, she is going home with us no matter what! *sigh* ... she was a little girl! We snuggled her into the flat and for 6 months we manage to hide her. I sneaked out with her at night to let her wee in the park and during the day my man was home to housetrain the new baby ... She had the sweetest little white socks on her feet and we called her Chaussettes (French for "socks").
Here's a few pictures of her. She is almost 7 years old.
When the care taker at the flat found out about the dog in the flats we had to move. So we moved into a townhouse and decided to get another Pekingese. I called the vet who informed me that one of his patients just had a litter of cutest Peke puppies. We visited and chose the biggest and strongest female and she came on New Years' Eve ... She had the face of an Angel so we called her Mituskai (Japanese for "angel"). Some pics of her.
She recently had a big operation and is recovering well ... She is 6 years old.
Johannesburg has a huge annual Easter Festive Show and while walking around the Animal Section we saw a doggy fashion parade. I was convinced I see a Peke walking the "dog"walk ... the catwalk were closed already because they were taking catnaps ...
After the fashion parade I went backstage and there was the little Peke. He was already 3 months old but so sick with flu and he was for sale because his current owners didn't want him anymore ... My heart melted and so my little boy joined the family - his name is Figlio which is Italian for "boy". He is almost 5 years old. Here he is ... we trim his hair because it is so hot in Africa. The first picture is in summer 2005 and the second picture was taken last month in the middle of winter.
We moved into a bigger town house a few months after we took Figlio home and one hot summer afternoon, on our way to the shops we see a truck parked next to the road with a enclosure of puppies outside in the sun. It looked like Labradors ... and yes it were! Once again I had to rescue a doggy and took home a Golden Lab puppy. We named her Nadezhda (Russian for "hope") because we hoped that we could afford feeding her
She is now 4 years old and just recently got rid of her puppy playfulness
We decided that enough is now enough ... we moved to a farm cottage that had enough space for the four dogs and sure as shit we one morning walk at the flea market and see a black Peke puppy
I walked straight up to the owner and asked if the pup is for sale ... she looked at her husband and daughter, thinked about it for a moment and asked what I would offer her ... And so little Ebony came home with us
She is now 3 years old. What is special about little Ebony is that she is what we call a "Sleeve Peke". A normal Peke grows up to 5kg (11 pounds) ... she is fully grown and weighs only 2.5kg (5.5 pounds). You can see the difference in size in the picture below ... Mitsukai is at the bottom (she weighs just over 11 pounds), Chaussettes is in the centre (she weighs just under 11 pounds) and little Ebony is at the top
This picture was taken quite recently and Ebony is really fully grown!

Now we really make sure we do not carry cash with us when we go to the flea market or other types of shows
I don't have nice pictures of the budgie, hamster and tropical fish ... As soon as I take some I will post them in my pics folder ...
That was a lengthy update ... More facts about me:
