My darling dvb and I finally made it to vancouver! We planned on going last november and actually managed to pull if off only one year, one month later! go us.
Anyway, we left early and caught the nine am ferry. Davey braved the infamously horrible ferry breakfast but I grabbed a bagel across the street from our apartment on the way out. It took us awhile to realize we were in the line for the buffet as well so we had to wait extra long. I was glad to leave the chachi guys in line ahead of us behind.
Davey banged his bad knee really hard too. It was horrible. He was in so much pain and I was sad. I sewed a bit of my pillows I am making and then we just relaxed for awhile.
We drive downtown and I showed davey my old houses along the way. It took so long to park but we finally found this nearly empty lot way down on cambie. Then we walked up georgia to the record store that is non-existant anymore and then to london drugs to get davey some better cough candies since he has been hacking his lungs out for days now. poor dear. We saw this guy running around muttering with dried up blood running down his arms from his heroin inject sites. NASTY. I almost freaked out because I couldn't handle it. Vancouver has definately degraded since I lived there a couple years ago. It's sad really. I felt almost like I couldn't breathe most of the time. ugh.
We went on the hot pink eyeshadow search but found nothing. We also went on a record hunt and found one really good store where davey found a whole stack of records he wanted. I listened to some electro and tribal house while I waited. He ended up with 5 new awesome records and then we got the hell out of nastyville and went and got some soup for lunch. Then we went and got our car and drove to dragonball, the best bubbletea place ever.
We were so full so we just shared one. I wanted to get pudding and strawberry flavors but I couldn't have drank it all. We didn't even finish the one we did get! It was soooo good to finally get it again. I've been trying to figure out how I could get someone to transport it from vancouver all the way on the ferry to victoria and still have it taste good but there is just no way. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and try the damn victoria bubbletea that disappointed me about a year and a half ago. Hopefully they've made way since then and actually know how to do it right.
We went to ikea next. ohmygawd. I LOVE that place. We actually ran into the store like little kids and then our eyes were swirling around while we tried to look at everything. We had a tight time schedule as well as we were trying to catch the 7pm ferry instead of waiting for the 9. I ended up spending $360 and davey spent about $200. I will do a big picture post with all of our purchases tomorrow or tonight maybe. We've almost set it all up already!
We made out ferry and drove straight on. I love not waiting. We bought magazines in the gift shop and then we went back down to the car and spent the rest of the time sewing and cuddling.
It was so good to be back on the island. I never want to live in vancouver again. It's just too busy and dirty and not here for me.
oh and go check out the pictures here
