Part TWO
(for part one, in case you missed it, go back on the journal entries one day.)
So we went to the Union convention...and there was a drawing for a free Hawaiian vacation. The guys were from a pineapple union, and thought Cupcake and I were cute... So they picked us out of a crowd.
They said "SO is that your boyfriend?" and I said "no."
They Said "Is that your brother...?" I said "no."
They were like "well then how do you know each other?" Mind you this is in front of 100 people. "We are on our first date." I said..
They said "You guys went to a UNION convention on your first date?!" We said well... "it seemed like a good idea."
They said, "Let's give a big round of applause for this couple on their first date! Supporting equal workers rights, and having a stronger america!" ... Everyone applauds.
They said "So what do you like about this girl? (to cupcake)" "Ummm... I don't know..." He turns bright red. "she is pretty..."
"Well what do you liek about him..." I turn bright red... "I don't know, he has cool tattoos...."
Embarassing but cute. They made me get up and read off the numbers during the drawing.
It was a great first date... we went to the portland city grill... we went and tried to sell books at powells, we drank wine, watched a movie and made out. I wouldn't let him stay the night at my apartment the first night, because If i like a boy, i don't want him to stay over just yet.
We started hanging out like every other day, for a week. One day he tells me... "well did you know that i had plans to move to denver this month?" I looked at him shocked... "um.. no.." He says... "well i don't know what i'm going to do now that i met you." So i'm thinking he is not going to leave.
Couple days pass... he starts making commments about how i should go to denver with him. He almost convinced me to go for about 15 minutes... What is a girl to do? Leave to another state with a guy whom she only has known for a couple of weeks? Ummm not the best idea considering i am getting my MBA right now, and have all these ties here.
WE come up with this plan. My mom talks me out of moving to Denver, and Cupcake and i decide that we want to go on some type of adventure to anotehr country at least. It does not make sense for me to move to denver with him, when i'm making money and finishing up school here. I will be done with school in august. It doesn't make sense for him to move to denver without me because i wouldn't be able to get to know him. We can't go on an overseas adventure yet because we don't have the money saved up yet.
He got accepted to a school in London, and we found out that i could get a "long term unmarried partner" visa to move to london with him. However, how could we find out how compatible we are if he moves to denver...? How can i go with him with all my shit here?
So we did what any two crazy kids who have been dating for a week at the time would do. He moved in.
And it wasn't till the two week mark where we are at right now, that we actually became bf/gf. Now this is where the Nuveau part comes in. WE are taking things within the confines of our relationship VERy slow. Getting to know each other, and planning on an adventure responsibly. Granted had i been 22, (like he is) i would have jumped in his mercedes and gone with him to Denver. But I gave him a reason to stay, and it has been the path of least resistence.
Now we get to find out if we are compatible enough to move to London together in about three months, instead of doing the long distance thing from Portland to Denver to find out if we are compatible.
Oh what an adventure! All I can say is that he is great, and we are having fun together. My friends are all shocked and appalled at how quickly it all happend, but one thing we both have in common is both of our groups of friends seem to really like us together....
but what i say is, what a better way to cut out all the bullshit and just be frivoulous and adventurous, yet responsible at the same time. The worst thing that could happen, is that things won't work out and he'll move to denver.
Some people stay together for years, move in together to only find out they are not compatible that way. He and i are finding out now, and when and if it doesnt work out, than think of how much time we saved? And at what cost? A little time and personal space.
Would I recommend this for anyone? Definitely not. But for us, it seemed like the best way to get to know each other, when before we met, both of our lives were going on different paths that didn't include each other in them...and then we like each other enough to kind of change some things around to see if it would work.
We'll see.
PS. He is really smart.
PPS. Extremely hot.
PPPS. And just a very nice good natured person.
PPPS. I'm a happy girl.

Relationships are a bitch! If you DON'T know what's going on. I just went through some adventure/relationship that ended bitter sweet. you should read them. any way...the way you wrote it out(the whole part1, part2 thing) caught my attention cause that's how i wrote mine. I'm thinking about moving to Portland in 2 years. Static X was right...Wisconsin IS a death trip. Absolutely nothing to do here....i'm bored.
