do you have a balcony or a nice big window in your new place? if so you could try to grow some grocerie like tomatoes and peppers and stuff - or try to find someone who's part of a co-op - they usually end up with a big surprlus of produce for sharing! of course it's usually a surplus of like kale and rhubarb...
