September 11th. I can't say that I was there or even near there. I feel the same sadness that everyone else does when the images and memorials are shown. What I do think about most is this: There was a girl, Angie, who was killed in the Pentagon. I wasn't best friends with her and lost contact with her after high school. What I can say is that in 1991 I was at my 3rd high school, shy and did not know many people. One of the people I was friends with talked me into joining the colorguard/flag squad. I did this at the school I went to in 9th grade and loved it. Angie and her sister made me feel so welcome. We had a lot of laughs and there was a fun band trip to Atlanta. When I think of September 11th, I think of Angie and showing her how to do the helicopter and pop toss and laughing as we ducked away from wayward flagpoles and came up with ridiculous dance moves. Just for a moment, I remember what it was to be a laughing 16yr old. Thanks for the memory, Angie and God Bless you.
It is also my stepdad's birthday, so happy birthday papi.
