@autumn in her 2003 SG debut "Culture"
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays!!!! The vibes, the colors... everything about it fills my heart with spooky joy. Here are my top 5 spooky season movies that I love watching while I wait for All Hallows Eve.
#5 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 from 1986 - In this thriller, a radiohost is stalked by the TCM gang after airing a tape of them on a killing rampage. From the memorable quotes by Chop Top to the human side displayed by Leatherface unto Stretch, this movie is a classic for me. It has the "best bad movie ever made" feels from start to finish.
#4 Martyrs from 2008 - A french foreign psychological horror film that follows Lucie, a girl who was abducted and tortured as a child, as she tries to enact revenge on her captors and finds that they are torturing people to the point of death to study the afterlife. Foreign films creep me out in a major way and this film did not disappoint at all in the creepy factor. It is super dark and I loved that it haunted me for days after seeing it the first time.
#3 The House of the Devil from 2009 - Set in 1983, a college student decides to take a job babysitting, but comes to realize her clients have a very dark secret. The vibe of this film really puts you into the early 80's from the music to the wardrobes. It totally pulled me in from the very beginning. My favorite horror mystery by far.
#2 Night of the Demons from 2009 - In this remake, a group of teenagers attend a halloween party in an abandoned mansion and end up waking up demons from the houses' dark past. I love the "campy horror" aspects of this film, the slutty halloween outfits and the special effects are awesome!!
#1 Beetlejuice from 1988 - A classic fantasy horror film about a recently deceased couple who decides to stay in their house and hire Betelgeuse, a bio exorcist, to scare the new inhabitants away. Everything in this film is sooo good, the music, the "campiness", the quotes and Tim Burtons vision, this is by far my favorite spooky season movie.
Do you have a must watch spooky season movie? I want to hear about them! Have a spooktacular All Hallows Eve and remember, never trust the living!!
