I have always wanted a blog but never really did it. I don't think too many people care what I have to say, but is that really important to me right now? No. What is important is getting thoughts into print. Getting ideas developed and advancing.
My son has recently slipped into a terrible sleeping habit. He's been staying up way too late for a four year old, but this is assuredly a temporary development which will be overcome.
Nico, my son, is a good boy. He's the most well mannered four year old I could have hoped for (98% of the time) and I am tempted to say that he could raise himself if he had to. He's pretty strong and very smart.
We make the best of things, though. His favorite holiday Halloween is getting closer and he enjoys each one more and more each year. I often compare his childhood with mine and see some similarities yet glaring differences. This boy will be a better man than I will ever be if he can keep it together when he becomes a teenager. And through his early 20's. And laye 20's. And probably his 30's.
I always told myself, rather, I always convinced myself that I would kick the smoking habit when I turned thirty. I turned thirty in June and have only managed to get to under a pack a day, most days. I am not going to blame it on the nicotine being too hard for me to kick, though. I will instead blame myself for not trying as hard as I should. I really don't want to die of cancer of the lungs or throat or jaw or whatever, and if kicking the habit is going to help there and in overall fitness, then I need to do it while I am still not old.
I recently dug into the past and started listening to Prick again. The self titled album they realsed in the mid 90's still remains a firm favorite of mine. I am surprised it did not catch on nearly as well as I would believe it should. The band recently released another album, The Wreckard, which I enjoy as well.
Watched "The Benchwarmers" today, it had it's good moments, it had some disturbing moments. It is one of those films that is technically terrible but you like it anyways.
Last night I got to see "Ride With The Devil" staring Peter Parker, I mean that Toby kid. Really good movie based on the Civil War in Missouri.
My classic movie suggestion of the post has to be special since this is the first blog entry. Rent "In a Lonely Place" staring Humphry Bogart and a stunning Gloria Grahame.
