Carmady has brought something to my attention. He has lately been drinking a lot of 'Pom' which in its advertising states clearly that it is "100% Pomegranate juice." Then on the same goddamn bottle it will go and say, "from concentrate," and "with added flavourings," thereby indicating that it's 100% pomegranate juice in much the same way as Los Angeles is in Wales.
And that reminds me.
Innocent Smoothies. My carton here says that it contains 1.5 pressed pinapples, 3.5 mashed bananas, 2.5 pressed apples, some nice coconut milk and some freshly squeezed orange juice. And nothing else. No concentrates - no stabilisers - no flavourings - no GM stuff - no preservatives - no added sugar - no E numbers and no funny business and never, ever from concentrate.
Well, pardon me, but when I make my own fruit smoothies at home (and I do) they go rotton if I leave them overnight. So how does a company based in London W6 mass-produce cartons of nothing but fruit juice, ship it en mass to locations all over the UK where it can be kept for up to a month and still not go off UNLESS THEY USE PRESERVATIVES???
I propose setting up a website called whatsininnocentsmoothies.com, where people from around the world can post their queries about what really goes into our health food. Amd not least, I mean Supersize Me was a good documentary and all, but why the hell was it championing Subway as a low-fat fast-food alternative? I've seen the cheese those motherfuckers use.
