Best news yet this year.
Seriously. I've been following this case for some years. I was studying for 'A' level Media Studies in 1998. We did a unit on documentary, and our teacher was trying to acclimatise us to the notion that, you know, factual programmes aren't neccessarily that closely based on fact. This BBC documentary sure wasn't. You don't need to be a Meeja graduate to have been able to see they were trying to convince the audience of Jenkin's guilt by use of filmic conventions in lieu of the remotest bit of definite evidence.
Check out THIS rant. "Everyone should accept now that he is innocent, and any reporters who try to suggest that he is in fact guilty should be ashamed of themselves. Such people who swallow the line fed to them by the police are incompetent, and we should not rely on the in future." I mean, by all accounts, the Dude's an uber-cunt. But the total inadequacy of this trial has made douchebags of the media AND the courts. If you ask me.
Anyway, I have an announcement to make. I have decided it might be ok if I do rewrite that novel I wrote when I was 17, after all.
WOOT.

Venice is still on my list of places to go, but my parents are in the process of restoring a farm house in the Marche so should be in driving distance which is cool! What time of year did you go? I've heard it can be a bit unpleasant in the height of summer!

I can't imagine what they're like to get out to Tuscany/Umbria anymore! I've noticed that prices to Anconna are getting higher (nearest airport to the house). Have you been to Siena? If you haven't you've got to if you you're in Florence (obviously if you've got enough time!). I personally prefer Siena to Florence the old part of the city is all self contained to a large extent, you get more of a feel for the place.
