Well, today was an interesting day. I work at a local tv station and this morning I was running audio for our live morning show when we did a story about a local Marine who was injured in Iraq and returned home this week. Turned out, this local Marine was a good friend of mine from HS, we double dated with our gf's to homecoming and stood next to each other for graduation ceremony. He was an MP, and one of only 6 marines to serve on motorcycles. He was delivering a message to his commander driving along side a moving convoy when a hummer pulled out and hit him. Luckily, the hummer was an ambulance and they were able to treat him right away. He dislocatted his shoulders, broke several ribs, and had two crushed lungs. He flew back to the states yesterday on the same plane as Jessica Lynch (Former POW).
It's amazing how this war can seem so distant. After HS, i knew he had joined the marines, but once he went active duty we had lost contact with each other.
It's amazing how this war can seem so distant. I had been watching everyday and hearing all the details because i work at a TV station, and now I actually know someone who was there, and who was injured.
