This is from my facebook. My "friends" kept saying I have terrible taste in music so here's my top 10 of all time (at the moment)
- The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The most epic spaghetti western ever made. Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Eli Wallach played bandits in search of $200,000 in gold ($11 million modern day) in the midst of the Civil War. This classic is full of quotable dialogue, beautiful shots, unflinching violence and timeless music. Its influence is seen in modern literature, art, music, etc. At 3 hours most people will be turned off by the length but me I love long, engrossing stories.
- Leon: The Professional
A quiet yet professional hitman becomes the mentor of a young girl whose just lost her family. This thriller mixes graphic heart pounding violence with heartfelt emotion and drama. Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman give it there all and the relationship that develops between Leon and Mathilda is real even if their situation is surreal.
-The Thing
The greatest horror remake ever. Kurt Russell and others must battle paranioa, isolation, extreme cold and a shapeshifting alien. This masterpiece has icky but amazing special effects but the real horror comes from the feeling of helplessness and fear surrounding the characters, Who's real? Who's an alien? The ending is still chilling and jaw dropping. Body sci-fi horror at it's best.
-The Road Warrior
The greatest post-apocalyptic action film ever made. Mel Gibson as Mad Max the loner in the wasteland looking for gasoline. The script follows the old archetypal "Western" frontier movie motif. A loner, a lost broken man comes to the aid of some people . This flick moves at a break neck pace and it's climatic 15 minute chase is among the greatest. This movie has changed the genre forever. Behind it's violence and strange characters and settings we find the core of a movie, a man finds his purpose in life, even if it's driving a mack truck through bikers and bad guys at 70 mph.
- Oldboy
An innocent is kidnapped and put in prison for 15 years without reason then given 5 days of freedom to carry out his revenge. This gut wrenching thriller is amazing not because of what it depicts, but because of the depths of the human heart which it strips bare. Everything in this film is top notch and carries through a colorful, darkly funny, and disturbing spiral to a shocking twist. Don't want to get it away but if you have the stomach for it, take the journey.
- The Seven Samurai
This concept has been beat to death but this is where it came from, a poor village under attack from bandits seek the aid of seven warriors to protect them. This is one of the most influential films ever made. Westerns, sci-fi, hell even comedy and drama have stolen ideas from this film. Each Samurai has it's own personality and reasons for fighting and they are real characters that we understand and root for. Clocking in at 4 hours it's a long film but take time to absorb it and the images, the music and the characters you will remember and love long after the credits are over.
- A Clockwork Orange
The dark satire sci-fi from Stanley Kubrick requires a strong stomach but it's social, economic commentary on a dystopia society are more timely than ever. The music, set designs (very comic booky), acting, directing and editing are amazing and add to the chilling atmosphere of this world. Kubrick made other masterpieces but Clockwork Orange always gets to me, one of the few films that makes me think and feel. And don't forget a bit of the ultra violence now.
- There Will Be Blood
Now this is kinda funny, I hate Paul Thomas Anderson's films but for some reason TWBB strikes me everytime. Daniel Day Lewis is sublime and utterly perfect as Daniel Plainview, a ruthless oil man of the early 20th century. What begins as a slickster trying to make a buck we watch this man morph into a monster whose hunger for greed and power is never satisifed. I really don't know what it is about this flick but I loved it and just sucks me everytime I watch it. (Waiting for all the haters on this one)
- Heat
The greatest cops and robbers movie ever made! Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, Natalie Portman, Danny Trejo, Henry Rollins, William Fichtner, Jon Voight all in one movie! De Niro plays a smart, respected, determined thief, Pacino equally smart, respected and determined cop out to stop him. As these two play cat and mouse with each other we both learn they have more in common with each other than they would admit. Nail biting action, powerful performances, It's a shock it was never praised by the Academy.
- Pulp Fiction
I know this probably on alotta people's list but this movie is gold. QT made a landmark film that others have tried to copied but couldn't compare to. All the acting and the dialogue is brilliant. You know it and I know it.
So that's my list for now, it may changed in the future. What's your favorite movies?
I need to get out of Michigan, it's a downward spiral there is nothing here for me. I hate it.

I think it is pretty awesome list. Your friends just need to open their ears a little more an give some of this great stuff a chance. People these days tend to base their opinions off what the media portrays most of the time and in most cases the medias opinion isn't always accurate in my opinion.
