I watch a lot of films. Its my passion I believe film is such a powerful force it can be a tool or a weapon. I was at blockbuster and I over heard a conversation of a couple playful aruging over what to rent. The woman wanted to rent a romantic comedy and the man wanted to see an action film. Both said the other's opinion was invalid and that their choice was the greater then the woman said "all big man films have no passion or romance"
Then it made me think about the superficial believed differences in romance/passion in men and women and the silver screen.
Here is what I believe, Romance Through Violence.
Men are protectors, we feel its our need to protect and when we love is threaten or destroyed we repsonse with violence.
Here are some examples. (as cheesy as they are)
Commando
He went on an endless killing spree because his daughter was kidnapped. He loved her so much he was willing to do anything, that includes throwing a metal pipe through a man's chest.
Im sure any loving father would be anything for his daughter.
Braveheart
After William Wallace loses his wife to the English he goes crazy and unites his countrymen to fight back. This film captures the essence of a man who loves his wife and country and will fight for it.
Now of course women are fighters too and are as strong and in some cases stronger than men in this regard but as caveman as it is I feel men sometimes express their romance through violence.
Your probably wondering what in the hell is the point of all this?
Nothing Im just a little drunk.
