A quiet night to reflect. Bursitis in my right shoulder forced me to leave work -boo hoo. Lol. Had a chance to do one of the only late night nature walks I've had the chance at all year. Nice to have a city park so close to the house to provide inspiration.
Approaching full moon -undoubtedly last nice weather one of the year, and one of last really warm weather days in my area of year. With a change in living venue and thus life in general hopefully finally approaching shortly after mid-week, I'm pondering the past. Both as it stands on its own and how it's led me to where I am now. Differentt aspects of 'on its own' left for another night, 'where i am now'? Well, though I often wonder if I've made some missteps(and who doesn't?) and where I'd be with other choices, I may finally be at peace with where my future lies. Depends on how my interview goes and whether i get offered the job I've qualified for with civ service this week.
As I did in a recent other blog, I'm going to tie this together with something which means a lot to me-in this case music. Listening right now on my car cd player to one of my faves -Donna the Buffalo. For those who who are unaware, (and I'm sharing this in another community other than that one than ends with 'book' , so bear with me! ) this mid-state New York band is a band credited among a few others-with starting the Americana thing AND the 'jam-band' moniker -before there technically was either back in the late '80s. Erie Pa is lucky enough to be blessed with their presence almost as long as they've been around. I in turn have been lucky enough to have followed them as long as they've played Erie -at local bars since the early 90s, when i was in my early 20's. My favorite album of theirs is their first full length cd -unofficially titled 'The Purple Album' due to its purple-ish cover. Favorite song-as many in this/that 'book' community know -is guitarist/vocalist/writer/co-founder jeb Puryear's 'Mystic Water.'
Donna fans are familiar with Jeb's often deeply spiritual subject matter. 'Mystic' has been a favorite for 2 reasons. First, when I first got turned on to Donna, it was a frequent (not so much anymore) visitor to the sets, and Donna's signature hypnotic drone jams wre perfect for the song. Second of course is its spirituality -Jeb uses water as a metaphor for one's own spirit or inner peace -or just-'that'. Myself -I admit , I'm more of a wooded area and open skies guy than water but the metaphor still FITS.
Gonna make me high -jump in the water....
Pray for me that the levee finally breaks after Wednesday....
