This weekend was fun. We are slowly doing away with our furniture...
-Friday night there was a basement show/party with our friends Unlce Traveling Matt and Ritter which helped me test the alcohol capacity of my new messenger bag.
Then Saturday night there was a party at our house, and much melee and destruction ensued. A bunch of friends were in town for the weekend, so it made for fun times. We no longer have a foosball table, a kitchen table, or lamp behind the couch, and there are a few holes in the wall...oh, and the sledgehammer was officially broken in the process. There was also wrestling over hammers, cabinet door inversion, and tribal dancing.
-people are either completely alienated and scared by my group of friends, or they completely understand and see that what we have is really special. It's difficult to explain, but if you had been in our house on Saturday night, you would know what I mean...
-Saw Dawn of the Dead last night...sadly, I haven't seen the original before (plans are in the works to take care of that sometime this week) but I thought it was really entertaining! Good mix of funny/gory/scary, and I thought the soundtrack was rad. And for a horror movie, it really made me think alot...how would I react to being pushed to fight for my life, or take someone else's life, or being sent off to fight a war, etc...the circumstances in our world today scare me enough to think that these are situations I may encounter soon enough.
-I've been listening to a mix tape I made in high school simply labeled "Alternative Mix from God." (a lot of Nirvana, older Smashing Pumpkins & Foo Fighters, Soul Asylum). The music breeds a nostalgia roller coaster for that time in my life.
"This is the time in my life, where everthing's falling apart. And at the same time, it's all coming together."
