Something major is happening in my life right now, so I figured it's as good a time as any to plop down a blog. That sounded gross. Sorry.
First, the transition to Windows 8 hasn't been as bad as I first feared. I'm getting used to accepting the little flaws here and there, and I think I've got the run of it for the most part. It's a combination of Windows for Dummies and Windows for Those with Touch Screens. I have an old fashioned desktop, so I'm not getting full functionality, but I'm actually handling it better than my tech geek friends since a lot of stuff is dumbed down, and they're almost too smart and set in their ways. It's pretty funny.
For the past couple of weeks, I'd been experiencing random blackouts. I'm not a drug user (anymore), and I haven't touched alcohol in awhile, so they were relatively unexplained. Now, I've suffered a couple concussions thanks to some mishaps in wrestling school and in the tub (long story), so I figured maybe post concussion syndrome was kicking my ass.
I went to get checked out, and a neurologist discovered a lump on my brain near the stem. At first, they thought it was swelling due to my insane "luck" at having concussed my self in the EXACT SAME SPOT twice. Upon further review, it's a non-cancerous growth on my brain. I'm going in on Sunday to undergo a procedure to have it removed. They're not sure why I have a tumor, but it's there nonetheless. I like to think of it as a physical manifestation of all the negative things I've been through, and that this means I'm exorcising some demons I carry with me.
The success rate is around 85-90%, but it's still a little scary considering it's my brain and all. I mean, if it were, say, my elbow, it would be cool if things didn't go perfectly. But my brain? I can't lie, I'm a little scared. I'm not sure what my time frame for recovery is, but doctors have assured me I'll be back on my feet in time for Christmas, albeit with a newly shaved head. Guess it's time to add "fly knit caps" to my Christmas list...
Hope everyone is healthy and happy this holiday season. Until next time
